Preambles:

The book "Fiji - The 2006-9 Definitive Overprints (The First Four Years) By Bryan A. Jones (2010) published by and available from PISC is essential reading for anyone seriously interested in these issues.

I respect the time and effort Bryan put in to researching and writing that book and have no wish to do or to write anything to devalue his work or which may be construed as plagiarism.

The stamps I am listing in this forum include many that are mentioned in Bryan's book plus some that have come to light since the book was published and some which have been issued since then.

I have already listed most of the stamps on the Stampboards forum - I will try and produce a more uniform and tidier listing on this forum - but it will take time!

Comment added 20th March 2014: n.b. The 2014 SG Western Pacific has introduced a new numbering system for these stamps, all of which have an F prefix (i.e. SG F1379). I will attempt to edit the existing thread to add the new SG numbers (as applicable) and will use the new numbering system for future additions to this thread.


Ref: Stamps 15.20, 15.30 and 15.40 (Scott 1157 varieties). The 18c on 6c overprint double exists in three forms. The spacing on the overprints is different, the first variety has a narrower overprint at the top, the second variety has this narrower overprint at the bottom of the stamp and on the third both overprints have the same (4mm gap between "18c" and "xx") spacing.

Les's numbering system (LRB ??.??): basic types warrant a whole number (i.e. 67.00), variations occurring in a separate sheet (i.e. Inverted overprints) are indicated by the number after the decimal point (i.e. 19.10) and variations occurring on one or more stamps within a sheet are indicated by the second digit after the decimal point, (i.e. 20c/23c no gap stamp from R7 C10 is referred to as 35.01).

My list is a "work in progress". I am sure that there are varieties left for me to find and it seems almost inevitable that additional ones will come to light for many years to come. I am fairly certain that further updates will be needed!

This variety occurred when the original overprint matrix mis-judged the space allowed for the mid-sheet gutter. All the stamps from the bottom half of the sheet had the overprint misplaced upwards by 50%. Only one sheet including this variety is known , the erroneous overprint setting seems to have been corrected immediately.
