The Clive Harvey & Ruth Tyler Collections
This Auction comprises two collections, firstly the Clive Harvey Postal History Collection of Tokelau and secondly the Ruth Tyler Postal History Collection of Cook Islands and associated subjects.
Clive Harvey, who died in late 2012, was a long-time member of PISC and a dedicated collector of Tokelau material. This collection is strong in early material, particularly around the time that they achieved postal independence in the late 1940’s, with a fine range of early survey flights into and out of the islands by RNZAF flying boats. There are numerous other items from the period immediately after they achieved postal independence through to the turn of the century. This Auction includes many difficult to find items from this small territory.
We are also pleased to be able to offer Ruth Tyler’s collection of Pacific Islands postal history, the majority of which comprises island postmarks through to late 1970’s, and as such includes many postmarks from small islands, (Palmerston, Suwarrow, Pukapuka to name but a few), which could not be obtained today. Also included are a fine range of maritime covers from a wide variety of vessels, mostly associated with the Methodist Church in the South Pacifica.
As is our practice we have kept lot sizes small, often single covers, or covers from a specific island, so that members can choose those items that really interest them without having the problem of disposing of surplus material from larger batches of items.
PLEASE NOTE: This a PISC auction and bids will be accepted from current PISC memebers ONLY. If you are interested in joining the PISC (e.g. as low as £7.50 p.a. for UK/Europe) please see the Membership Information page.
